Kanu Hawaii and Hawaiian Hydroponics & Garden say they will teach people how to GLISS or Grow Local in Small Spaces.
It's a free community event showcasing ways to grow food indoors and out in cramped and inconvenient areas.
Experts say the practice could cut grocery bills, help you eat healthy and build Hawaii's sustainability.
“Your herbs, your leafy greens not only is that going to sufficient for an indoor situation, but a lower lighting situation,” said Carmie Pasquariello of Hawaiian Hydroponics and Garden.
“We’ve got aquaponics, hydroponics, a prototype built by students. There’ll be a handful of different ways to grow,” said James Koshiba of Kanu Hawaii.
The GLISS urban garden demo happens Saturday from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. at Proto-Hub on Keawe Street in Kaka’ako
