Hawaiian Phenomenon Willie K, Ukulele Virtuoso Jake Shimabukuro and Hawaii’s Ambassador of Aloha Danny Kaleikini headline a special evening celebrating the ukulele, Hawaii’s official modern musical instrument. Presented as a benefit for Ukulele Festival Hawaii, the seventh annual Ukulele Festival Gala will be held on Friday, July 15, 2016, at the Pacific Beach Hotel’s Grand Ballroom beginning at 5:30 p.m.
A delicious buffet dinner, silent auction featuring an impressive array of ukuleles and drawing for a stunning ukulele are also part of the evening. In addition, the Ukulele Festival Hawaii College Scholarship, Eleanor Higa Performing Arts Foundation Scholarship and Senator Michelle N. Kidani College Scholarship will be presented to three outstanding students who have an interest in the ukulele. Steve Uyehara, Sunrise anchor on Hawaii News Now, and Roy Sakuma, Ukulele Festival Hawaii president, serve as master of ceremonies.
Individual seats are $85 each. Table sponsorships (10 seats) are available for $1,500, $2,500 and $5,000. For reservations or more information about the Ukulele Festival Hawaii Gala, call (808) 253-8628, email gala@ukulelefestivalhawaii.org or visit http://www.ukulelefestivalhawaii.org.
Financial support for the Ukulele Festival Hawaii Gala will keep the ukulele festivals free to the public by offsetting some of the costs. Funds will also support the organization’s college scholarship program that supports graduating seniors with an interest in ukulele playing who are pursuing higher education.
