The Story Of Kapena

Kapena, considered to be one of Hawaii’s premier island bands has more than 20 Island Music CDs to their credit. Although the band has been through some changes, its founding member, Kelly Boy De Lima is still the band leader. Kapena continues to be an institution that embraces what islanders fell in love with when fans first heard the unique sound of their “electrifying” Kapena music.
In the early 2000’s, Kelly Boy introduced Hawaii to the next generation of Kapena, his three children — Kapena, Kalena and Lilo.
Join Kapena & friends for a special evening at the Hawaiʻi Theater as they take you on a musical journey through the group’s years in the music industry from the beginning of Kapena to present-day with songs featured on their brand new Kapena CD titled Palena ʻOle. Hosted by Shannon Scott & Mele Apana from the Kolohe Krew on Hawaiian 105 KINE and featuring special guests Josh Tatofi, Hoʻokena, The Pandanus Club, Maohi Nui and more—this is a show you don’t want to miss!
