We need YOU! To clean the beach at the popular surf spot ‘River Mouth’, adjacent to ‘Iao Stream on the Waiehu side on Saturday, May 30 from 8:00 am to 12:00 pm. Gnarly litter is threatening to become marine debris right along our North Shore coastline, but we can stop it!
This site is particularly important to keep clean due to its biological and cultural importance. ‘Iao Stream empties into the ocean directly east of River Mouth — hence the name– and as one of “the Four Waters” or Na Wai ‘Eha, the environmental health of ‘Iao Stream and its surrounding land area can significantly influence the health of marine life and land upstream from this location.

The cleanup process has already begun: MMN Road Crew partnered with the County of Maui to remove larger debris from the site earlier this year, and recently a group of volunteers led by area resident Duke Sevilla collected 18 bags of trash.
If you can commit to helping next Saturday, May 30, please connect with us by emailing volunteer@cwdhawaii.org or calling 877-2524, and we’ll set you up with all the logistical details.
Join the effort and be an active participant in keeping Maui County beautiful!
