Revive the Live Music Festival – The Original Kapena: One Last Hana Hou

HONOLULU, HAWAII, July 10, 2015 — In 2012, Island Music in Hawaii was on a decline due to a number of various factors. Hawaii’s Finest Clothing and Island 98.5 took on the responsibility to contribute their best efforts to revive Island Music here in the Hawaii. In late 2012, they launched the Revive the Live Campaign to bring Island Music back to the forefront of Hawaii Entertainment. Three years later, Island Music is strong and alive and ready to take Hawaii’s biggest stage for the second year in a row… the Waikiki Shell!

For the first time ever all radio stations, KSSK, KCCN, Hawaiian KINE, and Da Paina, are uniting with Hawaii’s Finest and Island 98.5 for this huge festival. The RTLMF’s focus is to celebrate and perpetuate the revival of Live Island Music in Hawaii. The one-night festival will feature the Original Kapena who has not played together in over 15 years. Kapena will also be celebrating 30 years of music as well as saying a final mahalo and farewell to their fans. This will be the absolute last time the Original Kapena will be taking the stage ever!

The RTLMF will feature some of Hawaii’s most talented artist from one of the most talented eras ever. This legendary era includes artists such as Fiji, Mana’o Company, Bruddah Waltah and Tropical Knights. Opening the show will be Kapena’s Kids of whom includes Josh Tatofi, Dustin Park of Conscious Roots, and Kapena, Kalena and Lilo Delima of the current band Kapena. Finally, to close the night we have the electrifying Kapena!

Mana’o Company will take us down memory lane with over 20 years of timeless hits such as “Drop Baby”, “96 degrees” and “Sweet Reggae Woman”. The legendary Fiji will electrify the crowd with hits such as “Sweet Darlin”, “Naughty Girl”, and “Come On Over”. Tropical Knights will sooth your heart and soul with their smooth melodies such as “Going Home”, and “Sweet and Slow”. To close the night, we have the award winning, internationally known, Hawaii’s most prominent band to ever grace the stage, Kapena. They will get the crowd of all ages rocking and reminiscing with hits such as “Crazy”, “Reggae Train”, “Masese”, “Never Gonna Give You Up” and many many more.
