Blaisdell Concert Hall
Hawaii favorites PINK MARTINI return to Honolulu for one show only at Blaisdell Concert Hall on Friday, September 2nd at 7:30pm!
Pink Martini, a 12-piece “little orchestra” lauded for its sassy and sensual expeditions through a variety of music styles from classical to Latin to film noir and torch songs, hails from Portland, Oregon. Classically trained pianist Thomas Lauderdale founded the group in 1994 to play at political fundraisers for progressive causes, but their infectious stage presence and superior musicianship soon opened doors to perform for adoring audiences around the world. In 2003, the group made its European debut at the Cannes Film Festival and went on to tour most of the continent. Other appearances include four sold-out concerts at Carnegie Hall; the opening party at NYC’s remodeled Museum of Modern Art; the opening of the 2008 Sydney Festival in Australia; and sold-out appearances at the Montreal Jazz Festival and Paris’ legendary L’Olympia Theatre.
Pink Martini’s music has appeared on numerous TV shows and movies, been used as the setup track for Microsoft Windows, sold at Starbucks and greeted astronauts at the International Space Station. In 2014 they were inducted into the Hollywood Bowl Hall of Fame, joining the likes of Frank Sinatra, Liza Minnelli and Stevie Wonder.
Pink Martini’s Honolulu concert will feature outstanding vocalist China Forbes.
