In honor of Black History Month, Kealakekua Public Library will be showing The Secret Life of Bees, based on the popular novel by Sue Monk Kidd. 14-year old Lily Owens (Dakota Fanning) escapes her troubled and lonely life with her caregiver to a South Carolina town that may hold the secret to her mother’s past. While there, she learns about the world of beekeeping, honey, and the Black Madonna.
