Echo! Gyro! Martellato! Shake! No, this isn’t the latest dance craze, but some of the ringing techniques used by handbell ringers. Handbells are derived from the tower bells of England. “Change ringers” needed a way of practicing their melodies without disturbing the entire town, and so, handbells were developed. Soon, the ringing of handbells became its own art form. Now there are handbell ensembles throughout the world, and we are lucky to have the local ensemble Mele Mai Paki Lima to help us ring in the holiday season!
