Lightning Strikes Twice: The Real Life Sequel to Moby Dick

May 4, 2016 @ 5:00 pm - 5:30 pm

This is the story of the a whaleship lost on a remote reef, one very unlucky captain, and a team of archaeologists with the discovery of a lifetime.

Captain George Pollard, Jr., a survivor of the tragic events of the Essex, optimistically set sail for the Pacific one again in the whaleship Two Brothers, believing with all his heart “that it was an old adage that the lightning never struck in the same place twice.” Find out what fate befell Pollard, and what a team of NOAA maritime archaeologists has discovered about the only Nantucket whaleship ever found on the seafloor.

This program is free and is suitable for all ages. Please contact the library as soon as possible to request a sign language interpreter or other special accommodation: 933-8890.
