Lau Lama Cultural Illumination Series w/ Leila Kealoha

In this, the 125th year of US occupation in Hawaiʻi, Kalanihonua aims to support the growing awareness of Hawaiʻi’s true history and feature profound indigenous teachings from the landscape of lower Puna. Come join us as we learn from Kanaka Maoli and local scholars, educators, artists, activists and practitioners of Hawaiʻi culture.

The Lau Lama Cultural Illumination series is presented every Saturday. It is FREE and open to the public.

This presentation features “Native Plants of Puna” with Leila Kealoha.The lush coastal and upland forest of Puna continue to be home to a host of indigenous and endemic flora. Together we will learn their names, some of their traditional uses, and about current efforts to ensure their survival.
