In this, the 125th year of US occupation in Hawaiʻi, Kalanihonua aims to support the growing awareness of Hawaiʻi’s true history and feature profound indigenous teachings from the landscape of lower Puna. Come join us as we learn from Kanaka Maoli and local scholars, educators, artists, activists and practitioners of Hawaiʻi culture.
The Lau Lama Cultural Illumination series is presented every Saturday. This event is FREE and open to the public.
Our upcoming event features “Puna Mythology and Place Names” with Ryan McCormack. Puna's volcanic and verdant landscape is home to some of Hawaiʻi's greatest and renowned tales. Together we will journey through some of Puna's celebrated myths and explore how to listen to them for the wisdom they might provide our lives today.
