International Coastal Cleanup Day- Beach Cleanup & Film Showing

September 17, 2016 @ 9:00 am - 9:00 pm

Join Maui Huliau Foundation and POME- Product Of My Environment Saturday September 17th to be part of International Coastal Cleanup Day with a morning beach cleanup and evening ocean-inspired film showing!

Beach Cleanup:
Meet in front of Hawaiian Canoe Club in Hoaloha Park in Kahului harbor (behind Akamai Motors across from Kahului Shopping Center) at 9am. We will provide buckets and bags and water to refill your bottles. Please bring reusable water bottle and gloves (we have some extras). Cleanup ends at 11:30am. All participants will receive a ticket to that evening's film showing. Huliau students and other youth are especially encouraged to attend!

Ocean-inspired film showing:
Join us behind POME- Product Of My Environment in Pāʻia from 7:30-9:00pm for a collection of films about our connection with the ocean including various water sport films and films created by students of our Huliau Environmental Filmmaking Club program. Bring your ticket from the beach cleanup that morning or a $5 donation for Maui Huliau programs and a beach chair. Enter through the POME main entrance. The event will also feature pop-up booths by local designers and kombucha by Nourish Bar and Cafe Maui.

International Coastal Cleanup Day is a world wide effort organized by the Ocean Conservancy to clean our coastlines and protect our oceans from land-based pollution. A series of beach cleanup efforts are happening on Maui on the 17th and beyond organized by Mālama Maui Nui and other groups.
