HOT Presents: “Kumu Hina: The True Meaning of Aloha”

In light of its upcoming production of the chamber opera As One, Hawaii Opera Theatre (HOT) presents a FREE film screening of KUMU HINA – the story of Hina, a transgender native Hawaiian teacher and cultural icon who brings to life Hawaii's long-held embrace of mahu – those who embody both male and female spirit, and were traditionally respected as caretakers, healers, and keepers of ancient traditions. Stay after the screening for a talk-back with Hina Wong-Kalu herself!
