Mālama Maui Nui and the Rotary Club Of Lahaina Sunset will launch “Go Green Recycle Third Saturday” in July as part of a major effort to bring comprehensive recycling to West Maui.
On Saturday, July 18, from 8:00 am to 12:00 pm — and on the third Saturday of every month for the next 12 months — residents will be able to bring a wide variety of recyclables to bins set up in the parking lot of Lahaina Cannery Mall. Recyclables will be accepted at no charge, and there will be no redemption payments for HI-5 recyclables dropped off at this site. Consider your HI-5 recyclables as a donation to help support this volunteer-driven event!
Volunteers will accept scrap metal, bicycles, appliances (working or not), lawn mowers, cooking oil, cellular phones, household/power tool batteries, vehicle batteries, telephone books, magazines, books, eye glasses, hearing aids, CDs/DVDs, reusable household items, clothing, HI-5 cans and bottles, plastics 1 & 2, newspaper, cardboard, computers, televisions, printers, ink cartridges, gaming consoles, photo/video cameras, and microwaves. There is a suggested $5 fee to drop off regular-sized (or smaller) vehicle tires.
Items NOT accepted include propane tanks, green waste, furniture, trash, motor oil, hazardous fluids/waste, paint, vehicles. Not sure if your item will be accepted? Call our office to ask! 877-2524 or email info@cwdhawaii.org.
“Go Green Recycle Third Saturday” will supplement the two current recycling locations in West Maui: the County’s Refuse & Recycling Center at Olowalu and Lahaina International Market’s HI-5 recyclables at the Lahaina Redemption Center (275 Lahainaluna Road). Verify their hours of operation in the Maui County Recycling Guide or by calling 270-7880.
These recycling events are made possible by our partners at The County of Maui and 5A Rent-A-Space.
