The Get Real! Financial Reality Fair is a fun, hands on interactive financial literacy tool. Students in 10-12th grade will learn about managing personal finances in a realistic scenario way, receiving a budget sheet and then making choices on purchasing a house, car, health plan and more. But wait!–they must spin the “Wheel of Reality” where a random life event is applied to their budget worksheet. Kathy Morris, a Member Education Officer with a federal credit union on Oahu will host the event. Students will receive assistance from community members and credit union staff in making decisions about everyday expenses and get financial advice to help them create and stick to a realistic budget. During these challenging economic times, it’s more important than ever to educate our youth about their finances.
Program schedule is subject to change. Contact the library 10 days in advance to request a sign language interpreter or if special accommodations are needed.
