Join us on Facebook this Monday and commemorate the 10th anniversary of Kīlauea Volcano’s summit eruption! We will Facebook Live at sunrise from the edge of the caldera. Park Ranger Jessica Ferracane joins USGS Hawaiian Volcano Observatory scientists Matt Patrick and Janet Babb for an interactive broadcast and overview of the last 10 years of eruptive activity in Halema‘uma‘u Crater, the hazards the volcano presents, and how to best observe the eruption. Halema‘uma‘u is home to Hawaiian volcano goddess, Pelehonuamea, and the landscape is sacred to Native Hawaiians and others who honor the deity.
