Ellison Onizuka Day of Exploration

April 28, 2018 @ 9:00 am - 3:00 pm

The Ellison Onizuka Day of Exploration: A Scout service to the Community presented by the Queen’s Health Systems was created as a new signature event showcasing over 100 STEM-base activities, experiments and workshops that are FREE and open to the public.

This colossal STEMfest, a first-of-its-kind in Hawaii, is being geared to families with children in the 5 to 14-year-old range looking for FUN activities that will introduce children to the wonders of Science, Technology, Engineering and Math and hopefully inspire them to further explore these areas through school-based programs, community-sponsored programs like Scouting or on their own.

Scouting has a long historical connection to STEM oriented fields. Of the over 100 plus merit badges over 35% of are STEM-focused. With over 12,000 youth throughout Hawaii and the Pacific Basin, the Scouts of the Aloha Council are perfectly positioned to host this event for all keiki of Hawaii in honor of Eagle Scout Onizuka, who was dedicated to the “love of space and science.”
