Who– All One Ocean & Kukuau Studio presents
What– 2017 documentary, “Smog of the Sea.” Filmmaker Ian Cheney chronicles a 1-week marine plastic research expedition through the Sargasso Sea in the North Atlantic Ocean. Musician Jack Johnson joins marine scientist Marcus Eriksen, renowned surfers Keith & Dan Malloy, spearfisher Kimi Werner and bodysurfer Mark Cunningham on their exciting voyage.
When– Saturday June 10, doors open at 6 p.m., film starts at 7 p.m. Raffle drawing after film. Must be present to win. Free and fun for all ages!
Why– Plastic is a deadly threat to our ocean and its creatures. It kills more than a million sea creatures a year, and harms humans. Scientists estimate that by 2050 the ocean's plastic will outweigh its fish. But it's not too late to turn the tide. Come sign up for a beach cleanup and find out what else you can do to protect our seas.
*Plus– enter to win tickets to Jack Johnson's Oahu show, plus other ocean-friendly prizes. Raffle tickets $10, must be present to win. All raffle proceeds go to All One Ocean, a local nonprofit working to keep plastic out of our ocean.
