Children’s Summer Reading Program Kick Off

June 3, 2015 @ 1:00 pm - 6:00 pm

We are kicking off our reading program by honoring kid heroes throughout history with four activity stations that the whole family can enjoy.

Children and their loved ones are invited to make crafts relating to Ruby Bridges, John Darragh, Jackie Mitchell and Abbie Burgess.

Some of the activities are:
1) Making and joining paper chains of unity inspired by Ruby Bridges
2) Cracking a secret code inspired by John Darragh
3) Designing your own Jersey in honor of Jackie Mitchell (participants may design one on paper or bring a plain white or colored shirt they want to decorate)
4) Making a lighthouse in honor of Abbie Burgess

Children may also register for Summer Reading and receive book logs, book list and information regarding future programs.

This program is suitable for all ages. For more information, or to arrange special accommodations, please call the #HiloLibrary: 808-933-8888
