Booktalk featuring Sonia Patel

Debut author Sonia Patel will present a book talk on her new young adult novel, Rani Patel in Full Effect. Sonia Patel is a teen psychologist specializing in teen and family issues. She will discuss teen identity development through culture, family, and struggle, using protagonist sixteen-year-old Rani’s journey and her rap poetry as the example. Her book draws on her experience as a first-generation Indian immigrant experiencing the Hawaiian culture.
