artha Redbone and her performing partners will present Bone Hill: The Concert, an interdisciplinary theater work inspired by Martha Redbone’s family lineage in the Appalachian Mountains. It is an epic story of one woman’s return to her homeland on Black Mountain and the coal mines of Harlan County, Kentucky, where her family has lived for centuries. The program will consist of a lec-dem by Ms. Redbone during which she will discuss issues close to her, interact with the audience, and play some traditional Cherokee and Choctaw music.
Ms. Redbone is a multi-award winning American Roots singer who combines the musical influence of her gospel-singing father and culture of her Cherokee-Choctaw mother to produce explosive live shows that have earned her a passionate fan base.
Free. All ages welcome. Young children must be accompanied by an adult.
