Beats of the Antonov

March 28, 2016 @ 6:30 pm

The North Kohala Public Library will show the documentary film Beats of the Antonov. This is the final presentation in the winter series of three documentary films in collaboration with POV, the award-winning independent non-fiction film series on PBS.

Beats of the Antonov explores how music binds a community in the war-ravaged Sudan region where people celebrate their survival and battle to maintain their heritage, even as bombs drop all around them. The film received the Grolsch People's Choice Documentary Award at the 2014 Toronto International Film Festival.

Additional information on this film can be found at the PBS/POV website: http://www.pbs.org/pov

For additional information on the film presentations at the host library, or to arrange special accommodations, such as a sign language interpreter, contact Janet Lam at 889-6655.
