BAMP Project presents The Cat Empire performing live in Honolulu at The Republik Saturday, April 25th, 2015 with Special Guest Current Swell. Tickets are on sale NOW at the locations listed below. This event is open to all ages accompanied by an adult.
The Cat Empire is an Australian ska and jazz band that produces music that is a fusion of jazz, ska, funk and rock with heavy Latin influences. Their music is multi-genre, always changing, and always explores the boundaries of their mutable and uncertain identity. Since their formation, the band has played many notable gigs including the 2006 Commonwealth Games in Melbourne, the Melbourne Grand Prix Event, and even shared the stage with KISS. Developing a large and growing following over the years, the band has toured Asia, America, and Europe and appeared on the Late Show with David Letterman, as well as the Tonight Show with Jay Leno.
For over a decade, The Cat Empire have carved themselves out a unique place in the musical firmament, as a band with no guitars, with no easily definable style, but a band that can step onto any stage in the world and make the crowd move. Steal the Light, the band's most recent album and their fifth studio album to date, received rave reviews from fans and critics alike. The band's vocalist and trumpeter Harry Angus described the album as ‘as return to our original aesthetic.' Continuing to utilize the band's roots in jazz, The Cat Empire's discography creates the best soundtrack for dancing and feeling good.
