Arts Chat 7

March 21, 2018 @ 8:00 am - 9:30 am

The State Foundation on Culture and the Arts invites the public to attend a special Arts Chat gathering where we will be welcoming the new director of the Bishop Museum, Melanie Ide, to discuss the issues of organizational transformation and the evolving role of museums today.

Melanie Ide, in conversation with Noelle Kahanu, will be sharing her wealth of project and design experiences, having worked on some of the most significant and important of museum exhibitions, including the Smithsonian National Museum of African American Culture and History.

What interpretive and sustainability shifts has she witnessed and where does she think we are headed? We will wrap up the session with a collective conversation on what pressures, if any, exist to transform our cultural and art institutions here in Hawaiʻi.
