2nd Annual Farm Festival

Hāmākua Harvest welcomes the community to come and support our local farmers, hang out and listen to local musicians, taste a variety of the Hāmākua region’s artisanal foods, learn something new at one of the educational events, treat yourself to a silent auction item and enjoy our beautiful location.

This is a family-friendly event and free to the public.

The Second Annual Farm Festival at Hāmākua Harvest will feature a 40+vendor farmers' market of locally produced goods and an all-day line-up of entertainment, educational presentations, cooking demonstrations, kid's activities and a silent auction.

The Festival will be kicking off Honoka'a Western Week in a move that will bring the district's vibrant ranching community closer together with the area’s farming community.

Joshua Lanakila Mangauil of the Hawaiian Cultural Center of Hāmākua will open the festivities with a Hawaiian protocol.

The ever popular, Dominic Yagong, will be the festival's emcee, introducing fabulous entertainment, special guests and more throughout the day.

All day entertainment will feature popular local musicians including Ben Kahili and Friends , The Rachael Scott Band, The Hawaiian Cultural Center of Hāmākua Hula Halau, James Lowe and Dennis Padilla and Friends.

The Festival's educational presentations will be conducted by masters in their fields, including:

Ty McDonald, University of Hawai'i with his famous grafting demonstration
Noa Dodd of Hawai'i Green Earth teaching us about composting
Tako Ino from Mauna Kea Tea sharing tricks on getting the most benefit from your green tea
Raven Hanna, Master Food Preservers on dehydrating, canning, and fermenting your Harvest
Jill Thicke-Beaton, NRCS speaking on sustainable pasture management

Cooking Demonstrations using local ingredients will be a conducted by local chefs.

Meanwhile, for the keiki, the Hāmākua Youth Center will be providing several sessions of hands-on learning opportunities for the kids in our Keiki Learning Garden while Cirque Ohana will be hosting free juggling lessons.

The Silent Auction will offer opportunities to bid on everything from fancy dinners and accommodations to local farm and ranch services and products. If you have anything to donate to our Silent Auction, please contact us at info@hamakuaharvest.org.

We are looking for volunteers to assist with festival set-up and breakdown, directing traffic and parking during the festival, keiki activities and more. Volunteers will receive custom t-shirts, a mahalo pizza party, marvelous camaraderie and much gratitude. If you are willing to help in any way, please contact us at info@hamakuaharvest.org

As part of our Waste Wise initiative, and to accommodate off-site parking, we will be offering a free shuttle bus service to and from Honoka'a town.

SNAP/EBT purchases will be warmly welcomed.
