Humanity and home. Two words that encapsulate volumes of discussion and reflection. In my eyes the world is crafted within shades of grey, or gradients of color. A rich complexity of dynamics that are anything but straight forward, even when they are stragiht forward. Example, we should steward our planetary home with an intention of longevity in mind. That is fairly straightforward and would seem to be undeniable, to the people who find themselves on a site like this anyhow. But, achieving that obvious declartion is anything but simple once we dig into the details. This is where we find ourselves.
The goal is to be a force for the continual evolution of awareness and implementation of practices that bring us closer to a truly sustainable model of living on our planetary home. The word sustainable has be co-opted. I would even argue that sustainable means that at no point in a perpetual timeline will the action taken jeopardize any aspect of what is being used, integrated or incorporated, engaged with, influenced by, or impacted downstream; you know sustainable.
Sustainable means forever and not many of the actions we are implementing are truly sustainable. Truth, brutally honest, stripped down truth is key to truly achieving what it is we desire. With that said I have no delusions about the impacts of what this site contributes to. I also acknowlege the impact of choice and the types of choices we make. This site can help impact the choices and the differential is where its value exists.
Humanity is an evolving entity, we are learning through doing. A sage must first be a toddler, then a teen and so on. Humanity as a collective is no different. We learn by doing. We are the past, presently shaping the future. We are those that came before and we will be those that come next. Question isn't what anyone else has done or is doing, the question is what are you doing?
My Story
Hawaii has influenced my life in ways that I will be forever grateful for. Hawaii will forever be a part of my heart and who I am regardless of where the winds carry me. The island are truly a unique and impactful point on this planet.
I like to say everywhere holds beauty and meaning, I mean that. The islands, however, hold a bit more potency. Maybe it is a personal thing or a person to person thing. There is a feeling that hits you in the face when that airline door opens.
Running barefoot through moonlight nights. Dance parties, so many dance parties. Offgrid lifestyles. Eating fruit and saying, “oh, that is what it is supposed to taste like!” The salty ocean waters, there is something primordial about being held within the swaying motion of the waves.
An outdoor lifestlye, a love for sun and rain. A place where people come to be happy, to seek meaning, to grow closer to something.
