Partners in Time plays ethnic music of the Balkans (primarily Macedonia, Bulgaria, and Greece), the Near East (Armenia and Turkey), and the Middle East. Besides traditional music, the band also plays some tunes that are original compositions utilizing ethnic rhythms, scales, and styles of ornamentation, and some jazz-fusion compositions or tunes with some jazz styling.
The band will be joined by master musician Souren Baronian of New York. Baronian is an Armenian-American who has roots in both jazz and Middle/Near Eastern music. Much of the original material played by the band is composed by Baronian. He plays G clarinet, soprano saxophone, kaval (flute), dudook (Armenian double-reed instrument), and tambourine.
