‘Pukoko: A Hawaiian in the American Civil War – A Book Event with Author Wayne Moniz

Hawaiians fought in the American Civil War? After learning that more than one hundred men from Hawai'i fought in the American Civil War, award-winning Maui-born writer Wayne Moniz was inspired to write this novel.

Set between the years 1843 and 1865, the book traces the journey of a Maui boy and his adventures in Honolulu, San Francisco, Mexico, New Orleans, and cities throughout the East Coast.

During this free one-hour presentation Moniz will discuss his research, read from his novel, and entertain questions.
A book signing will also be offered.
