Kihei History Night: The Sacred Land of Palau’ea

November 3, 2015 @ 6:00 pm

Enjoy an historical slideshow and community talk story session focusing on the history of Palau'ea, the long narrow ahupua'a where remains of one of South Maui's oldest pre-contact settlements (800 AD) have been found. From the hundreds of cultural sites along Palaua'ea's coastal lava flow, to the thousands of cultural sites intricately interwoven into its mauka ridgelines, this is a land rich in rare, culturally important plants, traditional fisheries, dryland agricultural and ancient lore.

The slideshow will be facilitated by local historical researchers Lucienne de Naie and Daniel Kanahele.
