Litter Bugs Me 2015

MMN’s next cleanup campaign is “Litter Bugs Me”, which runs July 11 through 25. This is a concerted effort to keep trash off our highways, roadways, and shorelines.
With all that ground to cover, we ask you to consider choosing a site near your neighborhood that needs some aloha. Invite your family, friends, and coworkers to participate in this litter pickup campaign and help the beauty of our home shine!
Rubbish not only looks bad on the road, but it can also be dangerous–whether it takes flight, lands as a hazard for drivers to avoid, or makes its way to the ocean and becomes marine debris. On the flip side, litter-free roadways and public spaces allow for full enjoyment of the pristine nature around us.
Litter begets litter, and likewise, the effect of engaging the community to eradicate litter not only gets rid of the trash, but also helps set a new social standard for preserving the beauty of the public spaces we value. The hope is that we move away from eradicating litter, to preventing litter happening in the first place. And we need your direct community involvement to set the example!

And remember, the early bird usually gets the worm–soin the same spirit, we ask that you make your supplies request at least two weeks in advance.
For those of you who would like to make new friends as well as participate in a cleanup, we will have a co-hosted volunteer event with Surfrider Foundation – Maui Chapter at Kanahā Beach Park on July 18 from 9:00 am to 12:00 pm.
