The Hawaii Theatre Center is proud to announce the opening of It's Only A Play on June 18th starring Joe Moore, known as the principal news anchor at KHON2 News and also as a professional actor. He will play acclaimed television star James Wicker in the star-studded Broadway production of Terrence McNally's uproarious comedy, It's Only A Play.
Moore and New York director Logan Reed have put together a wonderful ensemble, including local stars and Linda Purl, veteran star of Broadway, television and film and is best known for portraying Ben Matlocks’ daughter Charlene Matlock in Matlock and was most recently seen as Pam Beesley’s Mother on The Office. Broadway credits include The Adventures of Tom Sawyer (2001) and Getting and Spending (1998).

Po'okela Awards winners Tom Holowach, Paul Mitri, Cathy Foy Mahi, Dezmond Gilla and Ryan Wuestewald, round out the ensemble in It's Only a Play featuring direction by New York director Logan Reed, personally recommended by the show’s playwright, Terrence E. McNally. It's Only a Play will play a limited engagement at Honolulu’s Historic Hawaii Theatre for 11 shows only from June 18 – 28.

In It's Only a Play, Peter Austin's (Paul Mitri) anxiously awaits to see if his new play is a hit. With his career on the line, he shares his opening night with his best friend, a television star (Joe Moore), his fledgling producer (Linda Purl), his erratic leading lady (Cathy Foy), his wunderkind director (Ryan Wuestewald), an infamous drama critic (Tom Holowach), and a fresh-off-the-bus coat check attendant (Dezmond Gilla) who just arrived in Manhattan.
A show that is alternately raucous, ridiculous and tender — It’s Only a Play proves that sometimes the biggest laughs happen offstage.
