A one day, hands on event promoting Healthy Soils, Healthy Communities, Healthy Ahupua’a
Please join the Hawaii Organic Farming Association (HOFA) and Down to Earth for a full day of farming and workshop lectures
Down to Earth is providing lunch with registration.
We are also offering scholarships. If you want more information on scholarships please contact Dr. Hector Velenzuela at hector@hawaii.edu
Registration: $25 for non-members, $12 for members, scholarships available for students

8:15 – 9:00 am Registration, Meet ‘n Greet

9:00 – 9:15 am Opening Pule
9:15 – 9:30 am Overview of the Day, Opening Remarks (Mark Fergusson, HOFA President), John Reppun?
9:30 – 11:30 am “Soil Building Workshop” (hands-on in the field where participants learn by doing) led by long-time organic farmer, Jon Biloon from Kona
Workshop includes: Soil preparation, Organic Amendments, and Soil Biology
*NOTE: For the morning workshop, bring your own gloves and tools (shovel, pick, rakes, pitchforks, hand-tools). Be prepared to get dirty! Only use essential oil sprays for insect repellant, (which you can get at Down to Earth or other natural foods stores)
Noon – 1 pm Catered Lunch, provided by Down to Earth Organic & Natural
12:30 – 1 pm Keynote address by Sen. Gil Riviere (Confirmed) and Russell Rudderman (need to confirm if he can attend)
1:00 – 2:30 pm Panel Discussion, Sen. Gil Riviere , Mark Ferguson, HOFA BOD members: The Future of HOFA and of Organics in Hawaii
