Controlling Little Fire Ants with Franny Brewer, BIISC
This class will train residents to combat the LFA together with neighbors on adjacent properties, increasing the treatments’ efficacy while decreasing the cost per residence, without demanding constant, direct involvement by experts.

Bio: Franny Brewer is the Communications Director for the Big Island Invasive Species Committee. BIISC is a grant-funded project of the Pacific Cooperative Studies Unit of the Research Corp of UH. They take the research on invasive species control generated by University researchers and partners and apply it to control the spread of harmful introduced species. BIISC teams are involved in a diversity of projects, including early detection of Rapid Ohia Death, nursery endorsements to encourage nurseries to discontinue growing and selling invasive plants, and eradication efforts for early invaders. We want to empower residents to respond to invasive species threats in their own communities, and since 2015 we have trained nearly 1500 Big Islanders in control of albizia and little fire ants. http://www.biisc.org
