Do you know what a coconut rhinoceros beetle looks like? Just how close are you really allowed to get to a Monk Seal? What can you do to protect Hawaii’s precious native plants and animals? Find answers to those questions and celebrate the libraries at the End of Summer Reading Conservation Mini-Fair.
There will be stories, activities for the keiki and the opportunity to learn how you can help Build a Better World for Hawaii’s native species with several environmental organizations and agencies including: The Bishop Museum, the Coordinating Group on Alien Pest Species, the Department of Agriculture’s Coconut Rhinoceros Beetle Response Team, Department of Land and Natural Resources, National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, Oahu Invasive Species Committee, and the University of Hawaii’s Rapid Ohia Death Project.
Program will be held in the Edna Allyn Room for Children and the Library Courtyard. Program schedule is subject to change. Please contact the library at least ten (10) days in advance at 586-3510 if a sign language interpreter or other special accommodation is needed.
