Eating Wild with Ed Fenzl

August 13, 2016 @ 10:00 am - 11:00 am

Want to add a healthy variation to your daily meal planning? This introductory course targets the home gardener and small farmer and covers 18 edible Wild Table or foraged food plants that are easy to grow.

Explore Native Hawaiian, indigenous, and introduced plants from other parts of the United States to “spice-up” your palate and bring new perspectives of farm to table.

“First look” at nontraditional food crops including herbs, vegetables and fruits which you can grow and ‘prepare in your kitchen’ with sample recipes!

Participants receive a Reference Sheet with print and online resources related to the Wild Table movement. Find out where to get seeds and excellent recipe books by top chefs in the U.S. including Rene Redzepi whose restaurant was rated among the top in the world for multiple years!

This program is a Community Seed Library event. The Community Seed Library is sponsored by the Friends of the Libraries, Kona.

Program schedule is subject to change. For more information, contact Natalie at 508.264.7335. To arrange special accommodations, such as a sign language interpreter, please contact the hosting library 10 days in advance: 327-4327.
