“READ. MOVE. GET FIT!,” the Hawaii State Public Library System’s 2016 Summer Reading Kick-off Event, will be held at the Hawaii State Library on Saturday, June 4 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. The event will feature Olympic Gold Medalist Kristi Yamaguchi’s Reading Adventure with very special guest readers:
– Kristi Yamaguchi, who is also an Early Literacy Advocate and Children’s Book Author
– Auli‘i Cravalho, voice of Moana in the upcoming Walt Disney Animation Studios feature “Moana”
– Clyde Aikau, Quicksilver Eddie Aikau Big Wave Surfing Champion and Inspirational Educator
– And other special guest readers
Entertainer and Children’s Book Author Shannon Scott will emcee this special free event. Everyone can join in a variety of fun and interactive health and fitness activities and enjoy lively performances on the Library’s Great Lawn, which will showcase “Health and Fitness for the Mind, Body and Soul,” this year’s Summer Reading Program theme.
Join the celebrity guest readers inside the Library for entertaining and inspiring read-aloud storytimes. Members of the audience will have the opportunity to ask questions and take photos with the guest readers for a limited time after the reading session. Refreshments, both complimentary and for purchase, will be available to enjoy. There will be fun for the whole family and participants can learn more about the Summer Reading Program at all 50 public libraries statewide.
